Community Activator – Breaking Boundaries

Band 5:  £17,391 pa - £18,672 pa  

1 x  37 hours per week

Temporary  18 months

Based at Community Sport & Activities Development Unit, Horton Park Lodge, Bradford

 

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Key Purposes of the post

 

Develop and facilitate the ‘Breaking Boundaries’ programme whilst gaining a Level 3 apprenticeship as a Community Sport & Health Officer.

Work with key partners to develop and programme activities for identified targeted communities across the City.

Develop project management skills to effectively track and monitor progress against the project plan.

 

Main Responsibilities of post

 

Assess the needs of targeted communities and work with young people to help them develop and deliver regular programmes of activity to support localised community cohesion and wellbeing outcomes across the City.

 

  • Recruit, train and support others, including young leaders and volunteers, to ensure sustainable programme delivery.
  • Support the recruitment, engagement, communication and deployment of a diverse group of Community Champions, working in collaboration with third sector and faith based organisations.
  • Ensure Community Champions are linked into local delivery to ensure continuous effective programme delivery and impact.
  • Meet, liaise and network with appropriate partners and residents acting as a gateway for greater involvement and inclusion through cricket.
  • Attend and provide effective input into Connecting Communities through Cricket National Network Meetings and Events.
  • Establish high quality sustainable school to community links (decision makers, practitioners).
