The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.  

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

 

The B.E.S.T. Project provides a managed environment to enable children and young with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour to be assessed.  The staff team devise behaviour management plans that are implemented which promote positive behaviours.  These programmes are then transferred to other settings  and enable the child to remain at home.

The work in the B.E.S.T  Project  will be supported by specialist roles wrapping around the whole service. These include:

 

  • Dedicated CAMHS support
  • Psychologist linked to the home
  • Specialist schools
  • Specialist Nursing Team

The post-holder must have:

 

 

  • Minimum of two years experience voluntary or paid capacity with children or people with a learning disability and challenging behaviour.
  • Have Level 3 Diploma or equivalent (see job profile).
  • Need to be resourceful, committed and able to adapt their approach depending on the situation and environment.
  • Have the ability to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required,, and must have  flexibility to work to meet with the requirements and needs of the Service.
  • Have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have the ability to use electronic systems.
  • Have the ability to nurture and support the children and young people ensuring the environment is clean and their needs are fully met. 

 

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure & Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.

 

This post will be recruited via the Warner process, which means there will be a safeguarding interview as well as a formal interview and extensive checks.
