Community Cohesion Education Officer

Soulbury 4 – 7  £37,234 - £40,741 pa  plus up to 3 SPA’s

1 x 37 hours per week

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

This is a key post within the Diversity and Cohesion Team.  In this essential role you will have responsibility for promoting equality, diversity, community cohesion and religious and cultural resilience through education across the District.

 

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic leader who can provide challenge and direction in the curriculum of Bradford schools.  As an experienced professional you will be able to evidence a successful track record with demonstrable outcomes and achievements.  

 

You will:

 

  • Lead on the Government’s Prevent Strategy in education and schools, including all staff training;
  • Develop and deliver peer education projects that promote equality and community cohesion;
  • Lead on the Stand Up, Speak Out, Make a Difference peer education project for the service;
  • Provide support to the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education and oversee the development of the Locally Agreed Syllabus for RE, including the development of support materials;
  • Provide support, challenge and direction on the curriculum of Bradford schools that will promote race equality and community cohesion, especially through religious education and the PSHE and Citizenship;
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes and associated information as well as deputising for and on behalf of the Lead Officer for Diversity and Cohesion.
