Apprentice Payroll Officer
 

Starting Band 5: Scale Point 13:

 

Age 16    Year 1 -  £  8,905    Year 2 -  £ 14,008

Age 18+  Year 1 - £ 12,952    Year 2 -  £ 15,656                           

Hours: 1 x 37 per week

Based at Britannia House, Bradford

 

To undertake an Apprenticeship Scheme within the Department of Finance which will train the post holder to assist in the provision of a range of Payroll functions to ensure an effective and responsive service is carried out to strict deadlines.

 

This will  include the processing of pay information  to convert net rates of pay to gross and gross to net, the maintenance of accurate employee records using both IT and manual systems and provide advice, support and guidance on payroll related issues.

 

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the payroll role and follow the training provided to achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications required for the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for an individual who is committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Business Admin. 

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English and not already qualified at Level 2 in the subject area.  (An assessment will take place before the interview stage).

 

Those that are already qualified to a degree level are not eligible to apply.

 

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment and a range of job activities to enable you to complete your apprenticeship.

 

The following skills competencies apply to this post:-

 

  • Has understood and passed on simple information accurately to others, for example:  how to carry out a task
  • Has successfully carried out tasks which required the use of  numeracy, literacy and transferring information accurately from one format to another
  • Has kept personal information confidential and not told it to others inappropriately
  • Has followed detailed instructions to carry out a task successfully
  • Has successfully used basic computer packages eg Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Has successfully learned and applied new skills

 

As this is an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship candidates will be assessed first on numeracy/literacy skills.  Only successful applicants from the assessment centre/selection process will be invited to interview.

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile is shown in this advert oultines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application
