 Temporary Project Officer (Parks)

SO1/SO2:   £25,951 -  £30,153 pa

24 Month Contract – Secondment will be considered

1 x 37 hours per week

Based at Bowling Park (initially)

 

This post is only open to Bradford Council Employees who are on Established or Fixed Term Contracts because the Council has to consider employment opportunities for its workforce.

As this post is suitable for a secondment, interested applicants need to have secured the secondment agreement with their manager prior to the application.

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.  The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

 

The Bradford District enjoys 37 public parks, 118 recreation grounds, 170 playing pitches, 55 bowling greens and over 300 outdoor play/fitness facilities, the vast majority managed and maintained by the Council's Park & Green Spaces Service.  The Service has ambitious plans for investment in both it’s playing pitches and outdoor play facilities to improve the quality of provision whilst reducing annual maintenance and repair costs.

 

The post holder will primarily be responsible for leading the formulation, ratification and delivery of plans for both initiatives, together with managing a number of individual identified projects within the programmes.  Development of IT systems for data analysis and mapping will feature within the role as will stakeholder consultation.  Drafting and possible presentation of briefing notes and reports to Council officers and Council Members will also be required.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a knowledge base in the following arising from, as a minimum, an NVQ IV (or equivalent) qualification in a subject directly related to the knowledge requirements of the post with a minimum 3 years’ experience:-

 

  • the working practices, procedures and political processes involved in delivering projects within a Local Authority
  • ICT systems relating to data storage, processing and mapping
  • The principles and processes involved in land/property transfer including Community Asset Transfer
  • written and verbal communication skills across a reasonably diverse range of audiences
