ASSISTANT TREE AND WOODLAND MANAGER

SO1/SO2:  £25,951 - £30,153 pa

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English. The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

The post is based within the Tree and Woodland Service at Peel Park Depot.  You will be expected to work across Bradford District and attend meetings across West Yorkshire. You will be the holder of a full UK driving licence and you must provide your own transport for work purposes.

We are looking to appoint someone who can demonstrate experience working as a practicing forester. You will be a confident, pro-active and reflective leader in this specialist area capable of collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders to deliver service outputs.    

 

The successful candidate will join an established team of officers responsible for the operational delivery of Tree and Woodland Services.

 

The successful candidate will join and support the team to deliver out of hours’ emergency cover throughout the year.

 

The key aims of the post are:

 

     

  1. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s Woodland Strategy and the provision of sustainable, well maintained, safe woodlands and trees throughout the District.

     

  2. Management of the Council’s woodland assets in conformance with the principles of the United Kingdom Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).

     

  3. Develop and support  partnership working with voluntary, community and social enterprises to manage the districts woodlands

 

The successful candidate will hold HNC/HND or BSc in Forestry or Environmental Management.
