Bradford Council Department of Health & Well Being is undergoing an exciting period of transformation and change as we implement our vision for wellbeing in Bradford and District – Home First.  We have a strong vision for social work which recognises that the service is at the heart of our Home First vision.  We have appointed a Principal Social Worker who, reporting to the Strategic Director Health & Well Being, is charged with ensuring that the purpose of our adult social work practice is to uphold human rights with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.  Our approached has been further strengthened by the establishment of our new Mental Capacity Service.  We are now further investing in our social work practice through seeking to recruit 4 Advanced Practitioners in social work across key areas of our new operating model for Health and Well Being in Bradford and District.

Our approach to social work is underpinned by two clear values.  Firstly, in all circumstances we work to promote human rights and ensure that all people we support are enabled to experience social justice and empowerment.  Secondly, we work to ensure the least restrictive option, promoting independence and enabling people to remain at home and close to their family, community and natural networks of support.

To apply for these posts you will be a qualified, HCPC registered Social Worker with either a successful completion of Best Interest Assessor, Approved Mental Health Professional or Practice Educator post qualifying awards.  You will be able to evidence understanding that whilst Article 5 of the ECHR upholds people’s right to liberty, it is Article 8 ECHR which defines great social work practice – people’s right to a private and family life.

As an Advanced Practitioner, you will know case law and be able to evidence high level critical reasoning skills which enables you to uphold people’s wishes, feelings and beliefs in keeping with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into practice for front line social workers.
