Mail Courier – Corporate Mailroom

Band 3:  £15,246 - £15,375 pa (Pro-rata for part-time posts)

£7.78 per hour, increasing to £7.97 per hour

1 full time - 37 hours per week

1 part time -  15 hours per week

Based at the Council’s Corporate Mailroom, Birksland Industrial Estate

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile shown outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

We are looking to recruit Mail Couriers, to work within a team of 4 Mail Couriers based within the Corporate Mailroom at Birksland. There are opportunities for both full time and part time (15 hours per week) posts.

 

 

The team delivers a daily courier service to a large number of Council buildings and school sites across the whole of the Bradford district; delivering and collecting mail, archiving and confidential waste on a daily basis within a given schedule. This is a valuable service which forms part of the Council’s Business Support infrastructure.

 

The successful candidate will: 

    
  • Must be over 21 years of age

  • Have 5 years or more driving experience with category B car licence

  • Be a team player

  • Have the ability to manage own time and work schedule within strict daily deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers on a face to face basis, gathering information and reporting this back to the Corporate Mailroom

  • Demonstrate an ability to use sensitivity and discretion when dealing with issues of a confidential nature, working within the Data Protection Act and Bradford Council’s confidentiality policy 

  • Must be able to lift and carry large bags and boxes to and from the mail van
