Licensing Officer  

Band 7:  £20,138 - £22,658 pa

3 x 37 hours per week

Based at Shearbridge depot, BD7 1PU

 

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile shown outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

We require 3 Licensing Officers in the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Service based at Shearbridge depot.

 

You must be able to deliver a high level of customer service and satisfaction to the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Trade and provide an efficient, customer focused and cost effective licensing service to all customers

 

You should have excellent customer service skills, be well organised and be able to work in a fast moving and very busy office environment, dealing with large volumes of customers face to face and by telephone, letter and email.

 

The ideal candidate will

 

  • be able to work flexibly to accommodate the needs of the service
  • be able to diffuse difficult and potentially harmful situations, support colleagues in dealing with difficult situations and intervene as necessary                            
  • be used to working under constant pressure and to strict deadlines
  • be highly computer literate, in particular able to use Word and Excel spreadsheets
  • be able to demonstrate an ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • be able to implement, maintain and manage accurate information retention systems both manual and computerised
  • have excellent written and communications skills

 

Experience of working within a very busy customer service/regulatory environment is essential.  Applicants must have at least 2 years experience of working in a fast paced, busy customer service driven environment and be used to dealing with the general public in person and on the telephone, sometimes in difficult and challenging situations.
