Having secured over £1bn devolved government funding so far, we are at the forefront of transforming the Leeds City Region economy and bringing major new public and private sector investment into the region. As the country’s largest economic area outside of London, representing one-fifth of the North’s economy, Leeds City Region has a significant role to play in the UK’s continued competitiveness. We are seeking a talented communications and marketing professional to help us build our profile among key decision-makers regionally and nationally.
The Role
Working within an ambitious, dynamic Communications and Marketing team, the Communications and Marketing Manager will play a critical role in achieving the Leeds City Region’s strategic profile-raising and influencing objectives working across the full breadth of the Combined Authority/ LEP economic agenda.
Activities will include:
· managing proactive media relations to increase coverage of the Leeds City Region and the Combined Authority/ LEP in target regional and national print and broadcast media
· advising senior managers, elected members and private sector board members on maximising communications and public affairs opportunities to achieve strategic objectives
· developing and managing relationships with stakeholders including local authorities, universities, central government bodies, MPs’ offices and private sector firms to advocate in support of the region
· delivering proactive integrated communications and marketing campaigns on Combined Authority and LEP priorities, including business growth, skills, green energy, transport, housing and investment projects
· producing high quality online and off-line collateral and content using the full range of communications channels
Skills and experience
The ability to manage multiple projects and to quickly establish positive relationships with local partners and stakeholders at all levels is essential. Keen political awareness and experience of working in a fast-paced, partnership driven environment is key to this role.
