Network Engineer/Analyst (ISP Security)

Band 6 – PO3:  £17,772 pa - £36,379 pa

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Network Engineer/Analyst to join Bradford Council’s IT Service based at Britannia House.

 

Working in the Information Services - Enterprise Architecture and Information Management Team to undertake network system configuration; support; development and maintenance and produce related documentation that ensures the department meets and exceeds agreed service levels to its customers.  The role will also support the IT Security Consultant in the delivery of Security policy.

 

 

  • Develop innovative solutions to solve business problems and identify opportunities to improve and drive efficiencies across the Council in the areas of Data Network, Telecoms Infrastructures and IT Security.
  • Provision, configuration and support of Network and Security technologies (e.g. Cisco/Juniper) and Circuit Provisioning.
  • Use IT service management tools to accurately capture performance data and ensure agreed SLA levels are achieved, with the Service’s ITIL framework.
  • Working Technical knowledge of Network Principles including OSI Layers, Ethernet, IP, MPLS, VLANs, spanning tree, DHCP, routing and interface configuration on routers and Layer 2 switches.
  • An understanding of Security Principles including NAT, ACLs, network segregation, Data Protection, secure configuration, system testing and access control.
  • A knowledge of the provisioning, support and creating documentation of complex network and platform configurations for both Data Network and Telecoms Infrastructures.
  • Analytic and troubleshooting skills for solving problems using a variety of tool and own experience.
  • Establish secure networking environments through verifying design and implementing system configurations; create logical documentation and enforce security policies and standards for both Data Network and Telecoms infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated track record of interfacing with customers and 3rd parties.
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
