CATERING SALES AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Band 5:  £16,491 to £17,772 pa (pro rata - pay award pending 1st April 2017)

1 x 30 hours per week

Alhambra Theatre & St George’s Concert Hall (+ Kings Hall Ilkley food and beverages)

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Bradford Theatres has an exciting and much sought after vacancy opportunity for a Sales and Administrative Officer to work within the Catering Team across three (four including Kings Hall Ilkley) venues – Alhambra Theatre, Alhambra Studio and St George’s Concert Hall in the centre of Bradford. The designated work place is St Georges Concert Hall, however presently the post is based at the Alhambra Theatre whist the Concert Hall is closed for refurbishment. The breakdown of the work is approximately as follows:

Alhambra Theatre 60%      Studio Theatre 2%       St George’s Hall 30%         Kings Hall Ilkley 8%

You will need a minimum of 12 months experience working as an Administrative Officer in a similar busy and vibrant administrative position with a bias towards a food and beverage – hospitality service. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4pm (30 minutes unpaid lunch) 5 x 6 hr days (subject to a further conversation if required at interview if appropriate).

Weekend work is rare but on occasion will be required as will evening work on occasion. Additional hours will be given should the needs of the business dictate and this will be paid or can be taken back as accrued time.

You will be required to work with (by providing all the back office support to) the Catering Management Team to enable the managers and staff (+ liaison with other Theatres dept and external stakeholders) to operate a commercially viable and up to date (present day and forward planning) service information for Bradford Theatres bars, catering, events & functions activities.  

The department as a whole has around 70 members of staff mostly casual and a management team of 6 + other contracted staff (chefs and supervisors). The department has income of approximately £1.1 million and we expect in future years to increase this to £1.5 million.

This role has to achieve and promote the highest possible standards of Customer Service in respect of working with Bradford Theatres management, staff and external customers and patrons, as a vast amount of contact by both e-mail, telephone and face to face with the public is a daily occurrence.

The work is highly pressured and has to achieve and meet strict deadlines on a number tasks both daily, weekly and monthly with accuracy and detail, with an expectation to wherever possible increase sales, profitability and meet and exceed the expectations of our patrons, visiting company.

This role is key to the departments operation and success and a high level of working on ones own initiative is required with the ability to manage your own time and prioritise you own work load, whilst providing the support to the substantive posts within the department.
