HUB MANAGER (TEMPORARY)

Band 8: £22,434 - £24,717 pa

1 x 35 hours per week

Temporary until July 2017

Based at: Laisterdyke Offices

 

 

Exciting career opportunity for inspirational managers in the field of education catering and cleaning.

 

Facilities Management Have strengthened our organisational structure to improve both the support to our catering units and our contact with school clients.

 

We are looking for a Catering Manager who is passionate about their work, have high service standards and are looking for career progression, to apply to become Hub Manager to cover Maternity Leave.

 

A Hub Manager will still have overall responsibility for managing and delivering a high quality service in a base unit (Hub Unit), plus a wider role to support a cluster of 12 to 15 schools in the local area. Your Hub Unit will be expected to be a centre of excellence in how the service is delivered, operational standards are applied, and how levels of customer satisfaction and other Key Performance Indicators are achieved, such as Food Cost, Meals per Hour, Meal Sales, Sickness Absence Management etc.

 

Each Hub Unit will have a Unit Manager who will be responsible for day to day service in the Hub Unit. This will free up the Hub Manager to support the development of the service and unit managers in their cluster of schools.

 

A Hub Manager will report to the Area Catering Manager. The Hub Manager role will be a 35 hour (Pro Rata) post and will provide a career development opportunity for ambitious and capable individuals wishing to progress in the  organisation. (The post can be either term time only or 52 week).

 

In support of the Hub Manager post, all the successful candidates will be provided with a bespoke induction training plan and be required to do an NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management (to be completed and passed within 2 years of commencing employment)

 

The role of a Hub Manager will be to provide support as directed by the Area Catering Manager in the following:

 

  • Induction and development of new Unit Catering Managers
  • Coordinating staff cover arrangements across the cluster
  • Supporting Account Managers in opening new service
  • Staff training including practical skills and health improvement
  • Mentoring and supporting Unit Managers at Student Council meetings
  • Running a look and cook session for children
  • Coordinating a menu planning and feedback session
  • Investigating high food costs, high sickness, low productivity
  • Kitchen team leadership support
  • Service audits at schools in the cluster
  • Implementing marketing in school promotion
  • Promoting best practice and service excellence

 

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent confident communicator with the ability to engage with staff and customers (verbal and written communication)
  • Brilliant at customer care
  • Hands on and leads by example
  • A can do positive attitude
  • High and consistent standards
  • Capacity to delegate, oversee and multi task

  • Willing to learn – IT and Management Skills

 

The post will carry “Casual Car” user status and access to a car for business use is required. The post holder will also have a laptop and tablet so that they can work effectively and efficiently.

Candidate must have the following qualifications:

 

  • NVQ Level 3 Food Hygiene (Essential)
  • NVQ Level 2 Professional Cookery (Essential) or equivalent i.e. City & Guilds 706/2.
  • Health Improvement Training

 

Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience of managing in large scale catering, including multi-site catering.
