The successful candidate will develop and implement a full spectrum digital strategy to ensure the organisation is making the optimum use of digital communications to develop its and the region’s reputation, projection, engagement and impact in support of our strategic aims.

 

Accountabilities of the Head of Digital:

• Devising then translating the digital strategy into a programme of development and ensuring our digital platform is cost effective, robust and delivers measurable, meaningful impact

• Maximising opportunities to develop reputation, reach and projection of the City Region to target audiences across the UK and overseas, increasing audience and impact via the use of digital and social engagement

• Delivery of key projects across a team which support inward investment, transport services, economic services and brand growth, including leading a wholesale digital review across the region

 

Essential Skills & Experience for the Head of Digital:

• Proven successful experience of leading the development and implementation of an organisational digital marketing strategy

• Strong track record in leading digital projects to deliver within budget and on deadline

• A successful record in growing online communities in size and engagement across a range of digital channels and media

• Experience of planning digital marketing campaigns to ensure maximum return on investment (ROI)

• Experience of successfully leading and managing a multi-disciplinary digital team, in a partnership environment

• Extensive experience in data analysis and testing of digital strategies including online campaigns with some experience of working within a regulatory or political environment a preference

 

Detailed Description

Main duties include:

·         Produce and implement website and digital roadmap with clear and measurable goals and objectives.

·         Develop and implement all online strategies and plans to drive traffic and reach of all Combined Authority and partner digital assets.

·         Develop efficient methods of testing propositions, channels and audience targeting techniques to deliver the optimum level of engagement.

·         Analyse user behaviour using heat maps and screen recordings using the findings to conduct A/B testing and development.

·         Implement SEO strategy and provide ongoing recommendations for SEO: from online keyword research, tagging and indexing to offline SEO work including link prospecting.

·         Effectively manage any third party relationships with agency, partners and affiliates, ensuring that there are well defined targets and strategies in place.

·         Work with third party partners and affiliates to drive new sources of appropriate reach and engagement.

·         Develop rationale to test new propositions and services and develop subsequent launch plans.

·         Deliver a world class online experience for visitors to our website and online products.

·         Manage the online look and feel of all web presence and online products and services.

·         Management of weekly and monthly Leadership team reports.

·         Management of digital marketing team

·         Develop and execution of a content marketing strategy.

Profile

Key qualifications and attributes of candidates include:

·         Educated to degree level or with relevant practical experience to similar level.

·         Proven to be able to deliver on KPIs and keen to work in a target driven environment.

·         Hands on online marketing (SEM, SEO, PPC, Social) experience.

·         Previously optimized website and landing page user experiences.

·         Content marketing and CMS (ideally including Umbraco) experience.

·         Strong web analysis skills and fundamental understanding of online marketing, SEO and Google Algorithms.

·         Use of analytics tools and data analysis to make informed decisions.

·         Demonstrable target driven approach to engagement generation, web performance and ability to work under pressure.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Experience of managing/optimizing online customer journeys.

·         Experience of managing a team and senior stakeholder relationships
