Project Worker:      Salary £19,430 pro rata

                                   32 hours per week

                                   18 month fixed term contract

This expanding and leading women only local charity is looking for an experienced Project Worker to support an exciting new youth project to engage and motivate young people aged 10 – 18 years.  The role entails undertaking initial engagement and supporting users to overcome barriers and participate in interventions that lead to increased confidence, knowledge and awareness to be able to recognize and avoid exploitation.  Key elements of the post include developing close working relationships with partner organisations and establishing referral mechanisms. The post holder will also ensure outcomes and targets are met, develop monitoring systems and assist with reporting to the funder.

 

Key duties

1.        To develop and maintain working partnerships with a range of statutory, private and voluntary agencies

2.        To liaise with partners to identify individuals and target groups and to establish appropriate referral mechanisms

3.        To undertake a range of outreach activities via community, schools, home visits, and through other channels

4.        To assess the needs of young people and undertake initial engagement

5.        To develop individual action plans and interventions

6.        To mentor and support individuals to encourage attendance on the programme

7.        To assist with the promotion and marketing of the project through promotional activities, developing publicity material and use of internet and social media

8.        To represent the project and attend relevant meetings

9.        To maintain accurate and up to date records of work undertaken

10.     To develop effective monitoring and evaluation systems and produce reports

 

Essential criteria candidates must have:

-          A recognised qualification in youth & community work at level 3 or above

-          A minimum of two years youth/community work experience, working in a variety of settings and using a variety of youth work methods

-          A minimum of two years’ experience of working with vulnerable young girls, specifically 10-18 year olds and women

-          Experience of supporting and motivating volunteers

-          A proven track record of achieving outputs and outcomes in a targets based projects

-          Previous Experience of planning and delivering youth work programmes for young girls

-          Experience of working on one’s own initiative and within a team

-          Excellent communication skills
