The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.   The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile is shown in this advert oultines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivating qualified, experienced social worker to join     the newly developed Placement Finding Hub within the Fostering Service. 

As a family finder within the service, you will provide a consistent approach to identifying the right placement for looked after children from the outset so that they can live in safe and stable placements which provide the support they need to achieve positive outcomes. 

This is a fast-paced and dynamic role which requires you to be creative and solution-focused in your practice in order to make the best use of the available resources, offering placement choice wherever possible. 

This is a specialist role for a social worker who is able to understand children in the context of their life story and attachment history and identify foster families who are able to meet their needs.  

The skills/knowledge and qualities you will need for this post are: 

You will be child centred ensuring children are at the centre of any decision making. You will remain focused under pressure and be able to prioritise and plan effectively, using your own initiative.

You will have a good understanding of the impact of early childhood trauma, abuse and neglect and understand the Importance of sibling and family relationships.

 

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available ensuring effective relationships with children and young people, foster carers and other professionals, whilst representing the Fostering Service.

 

You will have an in depth knowledge of the legal and policy framework relating to Fostering; Adoption; Children’s Care Planning, Placements and Review and have a sound knowledge of the Public Law Outline and the overall court process in planning for children. 

 

  What we can offer:

  As a department we encourage staff to enhance their knowledge and support them to develop in their roles as social  workers within a specialist service by accessing relevant and up to date training.  You will also receive effective day to day management support, whilst also having regular 1:1 supervision.  You will contribute to the continued development of the hub and participate in regular team meetings/reviews.

If you are creative, enthusiastic and level headed and have a proven track record in being able to support children and young people who are looked after, then this might be the job for you.
