Policy and Implementation Officer (Spatial Planning)

Grade K SP1-4 £33,536 - £38,831 per annum

Based in Leeds City Centre

 

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) promote the Leeds City Region’s interests on a national and international scale, enabling business and enterprise to thrive, and unlocking potential through partnership. Our vision is to develop the City Region as an economic powerhouse, creating jobs and prosperity, and improving the environment, for all who live and do business in the City Region through ‘Good Growth.’

 

The Policy and Implementation Officer (Spatial Planning) will play a key role in the development of strategic planning policy for the Leeds City Region, and support implementation and the delivery of projects relating to infrastructure and investment for the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.  The post holder will work closely with local planning authorities to support them in meeting the Duty to Cooperate, and helping to better align planning policy and delivery across the Leeds City Region.

 A key element of the role will also currently include contributing to the preparation of the Leeds City Region Infrastructure Investment Framework, which will set out the infrastructure and associated investment requirements to deliver planned growth across the Leeds City Region. 

However, as part of a wider team, the post holder will also be involved in a range of spatial policy, strategy and implementation activities.  This will include developing shared evidence bases on spatial planning matters, as well as developing innovative solutions to accelerate development in the context of the changing devolutionary environment.

The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge of spatial planning issues and processes, and experience of working in partnership to achieve shared priorities and outcomes.
