Waste Disposal Labourer / Operative

Band 4/5, £15,238 - £17,547 pa (Career Graded Post)

1 x 37 hours plus 5.5 contractual hours over time Monday to Friday

Based at Keighley Household waste Recycling Centre, Royd Ings Way, Keighley, BD21 4BZ 

The prime objective of the post is to be responsible both individually and as a team, for the safe operation of a Waste Disposal location, including associated plant and machinery at Household Waste Sites and/or Transfer Stations.  To operate and maintain large items of plant, i.e. wheel loading shovels, compaction equipment and if required to undertake shunting duties of Large Goods Vehicles and trailers at transfer stations.

Applicants must have experience of manual work in all weathers and also of handling of weight, lifting and standing for long periods and walking long distances. It is also essential that you have good literacy and numeracy skills in order to complete work, plant and vehicle record sheets.   

Working on other Household Waste Sites may also be required according to operational need.

You will:

• have experience of manual work in all types of weather and be capable of handling weight, lifting and standing for long periods and walking long distances
• have good literacy and numeracy skills in order to complete paper work and recycling sheets and a basic understanding of computers
• a driving licence would be desirable but is not essential
• A CITB certificate (or similar certificate) would be desirable, but is not essential as training will be given
