PREVENTION EDUCATION OFFICER

PO5:   £39,177 - £41,967 pa  

1 x 37 hours per week

Fixed Term Contract (funding received from the Home Office annually)

Based at Margaret McMillan Tower

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

This is a new post within the Diversity and Cohesion Team.  We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic leader who will play a vital role in delivering the Prevent objectives and supporting all schools across all key stages and education personnel across the District.

 

As an experienced professional you will be able to evidence a successful track record with demonstrable outcomes and achievements.  The post holder will identify vulnerabilities and risk, deliver training, maintain a network of contacts across the District to advance Prevent activity.

 

You will: 

     

  • Provide advice and support to schools on their compliance with the Prevent statutory duty

  • Improve the coordination of Prevent activity amongst local education settings

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the full range of Prevent partners, including Police, Regional HE/FE and Health Coordinators, Prison Services etc

  • Promote the Prevent Strategy across the District, including via local media

  • Keep up to date with changes and any guidance issued by OSCT Prevent and the DfE

  • Work with education settings to identify appropriate resources to embed Prevent in the curriculum

  •  Act as a single point of contact for OSCT Prevent, DfE and Ofsted where radicalisation concerns arise
