SPECIALIST SENIOR EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST (Psychology for Learning)

Soulbury EP B Scale 2-4 (including additional market forces supplement) plus up to 3  SPAs

Plus generous Relocation Package (terms and conditions apply)

Hours: 37 hours per week, based at Margaret McMillan Tower, Bradford

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

As Specialist Senior EP you will take a lead in shaping our work linked to ‘All Bradford’s Children’. This initiative is in its early stages of development but will focus on improving educational outcomes for all children (including those with SEN) through the application of psychology. This is an exciting opportunity to influence schools and settings using knowledge of what works and how children learn.  We welcome applications from psychologists who have a strong track record of developing and delivering project work at a local and strategic level. The post combines dedicated time to do this, with generic EP duties.

There’s a lot going on in Bradford and we want great psychologists to be involved.  To learn more about the roles, department and what a great place Bradford is to live and work, follow this link: Team Bradford.

Bradford Local Authority has a strong tradition of supporting and valuing its educational psychologists. The EP team is leading on the development of ‘My Support Plan’ and the development of a SEND review process to embed the use of the graduated approach to meeting SEN.

As with most LAs, Bradford has seen an increase in requests for EHC Assessment. We have worked with our SEN team to manage this and now have a system whereby EP advice is presented at ‘Joint Assessment Meetings’, reducing the burden of producing multiple statutory reports.

In addition to this, the EP team is driving a district wide strategy to improve outcomes for all children in Bradford.  The ‘All Bradford’s Children’ project is based on using psychology and evidence based interventions to improve teaching and learning across the city. This development allows EPs to break out of the narrow SEN focus and use their skills to their upmost.

Our EPs are supported to extend and develop their skills. We are currently training a cohort of EPs to use Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) and we have provided opportunities to attend local and national conferences including ‘Visible Learning’ and the DECP conference.

The team is based in the very heart of Bradford, in newly refurbished accommodation with dedicated desk space and meeting rooms. It has good ICT facilities with office based and remote access to electronic files, e-mail and internet. We have flexible, family friendly working arrangements and there are opportunities to progress your career through a structured SPA system.

Bradford itself is an amazing and beautiful city. It is easily accessible from neighbouring local authorities and offers great outdoor opportunities in the nearby Dales and surrounding areas. A generous relocation package is available.

All applicants must be professionally qualified and HCPC registered
