Social Worker (Adoption Family Finding)
SW Grade £24,717 - £35,093 pa
2 x 37 hours per week
Temporary until 31st March 2017
Based at the Adoption Service Sir Henry Mitchell House, Bradford.
We are seeking two enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Social Workers to join our busy adoption service. The post will be located in the family finding team although duties may also involve other sections of the service.
You will need a child centred approach and an understanding of the needs of children who have left their birth families as a result of abuse of neglect. Knowledge about the impact of early trauma and its manifestations is essential, as are good organisational skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people- foster carers, adopters, social workers and other professionals, both locally and nationally.
The role involves:
- Supporting social workers in undertaking direct work with children in preparing them for a move to adoptive families.
- Undertake work with agencies both locally and nationally to identify suitable adoptive families.
- Identifying children’s needs and developing appropriate support packages.
- Organising and leading Child Appreciation days.
- Undertake the practical arrangements to facilitate matches between children and adopters.
- To comply with adoption legislation, guidance, national minimum standards and departmental policies.
