APPRENTICE ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

 

TEMPORARY – 15 months

 

Band 4

 

Age 16/17 -  Year 1 -    £9,275 pa - Year 2 - £14,456 pa (pro rata)

Age 18 +   -   Year 1 - £13,490 pa  - Year 2 - £16,157 pa (pro rata)

 

37  hours per week – Mon – Thurs 9.00am – 12.00 & 1.00pm – 5.30pm; Fri 9.00am – 12.00 & 1.00pm – 5.00pm

Based at City Hall, 1st Floor, Bradford, BD1 1HY

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Office of the Chief Executive would like to recruit an Apprentice who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible and able to demonstrate tact, initiative and diplomacy in the performance of duties.

 

The main duties of the role will be to provide administrative support to the Office of the Chief Executive which will include Reception duties - collecting visitors/providing hospitality and telephonist responsibility; dealing with internal/external customers both face to face and over the telephone; organise diary management, appointments, arrange meetings, circulate minutes and agendas; deal with correspondence e.g. letters/emails appropriately.

 

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C or a minimum of Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English.  (An assessment will take place before the interview stage) +

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship. 

The following special knowledge apply to this post:

 

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy, literacy and accuracy across a range of activities.
  • Has previously followed instructions in a careful and structured way to carry out a task.
  • Has previously taken part in training and developed new skills as a result.
  • Is able to use a range of key IT packages which are necessary for the post i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Has respected confidential information and not disclosed it inappropriately to others.
  • Has successfully passed on information accurately both face to face and by telephone.
  • Able to implement, maintain and manage accurate information systems both manual and computerised.
  • Able to operate a range of office equipment e.g. telephone, photocopier, etc.
