The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

The Countryside and Rights of Way Service is seeking a Biodiversity Officer to oversee the implementation of the Council’s Biodiversity Duty as set out in the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006.

 

The key purpose of the post is to provide ecological advice and technical support to development management, development planning and other Services, including identifying the need for ecological assessments and surveys, appropriate conditions and other relevant matters and assessing the impacts of development, major projects and other proposals, including the adequacy of ecological assessments and survey information.

 

Applicant must have five years relevant experience in local/national government or other relevant organisation to include:

Knowledge and understanding of ecology (including specifically habitat management and restoration, survey methodologies and mitigation strategies and understanding of the principles and application of planning policies and environmental legislation.

 

Qualifications required: Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (eg. ecology) and eligible for Full Membership of the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or other related professional body.
