The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Authority’s Network Resilience Team who have responsibility for discharging the Council’s duties under the Yorkshire Common Permit Scheme and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. Reporting to the Network Co-ordinator and Principal Engineer the post holder will take responsibility for undertaking the inspection regime and permit inspection procedures to meet local and legislative performance requirements in a defined geographic region of the District.

 

The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring that permit conditions for all road and street works on the Authority’s roads are inspected in accordance with conditions issued as a part of the Yorkshire Common Permit Scheme, whilst also being involved in the inspection of non-permit streets and enforcement of a number of highway related legislation issues

 

Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act and allied road safety legislation is desirable and the applicant should posses a current Supervisors Street Works card. A good standard of IT literacy of Microsoft Office programs is required including the ability to produce spreadsheets and written reports.

 

This post is based in Jacobs Well but will contain a high level of mobile working across Bradford District at all times of the year.

 

A full driving licence and the ability to drive to sites around the District is essential.
