Bradford Theatres are looking to recruit a self-motivated and enthusiastic Venue Deputy Stage Manager / Carpenter to join its busy Technical Department.  The successful candidate will work across the three prestigious venues based in the city centre: The Alhambra Theatre, St George’s Concert Hall (recently reopened after a 3 year transformational refurbishment) and The Studio.

 

The Alhambra Theatre is a 1450 seated venue, and highly recognised nationally as a number one receiving venue in the UK, playing host to a wide variety of shows, ranging from touring West End musicals, drama, international dance and Yorkshire’s biggest pantomime.  The Alhambra Theatre was voted as UK Theatre’s Most Welcoming Theatre Yorkshire & The Humber for the second year running in 2018.

 

St George’s Concert Hall is a 1350 seated/1570 standing venue and as a Grade II* listed building, is considered as one of the best acoustic concert venues in the UK.  The Hall hosts a varied programme ranging from an international orchestral season, rock concerts to children’s shows and stand-up comedy.  

 

The Studio (adjacent to the Alhambra Theatre) is a versatile performance/rehearsal space (200 seats), presenting a varied programme for small-scale theatre productions, rehearsals, exhibitions and meetings.

 

The post of Venue Deputy Stage Manager / Carpenter is a key role, integral to the smooth running of the Technical Department.  You must be able to demonstrate extensive (a minimum of 3 years) experience and knowledge of carrying out all duties relating to the effective management of stage equipment, both in-house and touring, within a large theatre and concert hall environment.  This will include maintenance of the stage and counter weight flying system; fault finding and a wide range of other backstage work; as well as management of staff.

 

Candidates must be prepared to work long and usually unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays (also maybe work over the 48 hours a week, but will receive time in lieu) and must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.  Disability Discrimination Act (1995) has been replaced
