Policy Assistant

Grade H SP1-4 £23,221 - £26,887 per annum

Based in Leeds City Centre

Underpinning this ambition, our Policy, Strategy and Communications teams develop the policies and strategies that enable us to determine our priorities for the organisation – and secure the investment to deliver them. The role will be in the Economic Policy and Public Policy team and you will be expected to work across varied economic policy areas.

 

 

 

The Team covers the breadth of the Transport & Economic Policy matters facing our region including:

·         Leading thinking on how to grow the economy and boost productivity in a sustainable, inclusive way.

·         Developing the strategic road, bus, rail and future connectivity proposition to improve the experience for customers.

·         Our approach to strategic housing and employment sites, such as enterprise zones and place-making.

·         The strategy to support HS2 coming to Leeds.

·         The devolution opportunity for our city region.

·         Developing the strategy for embrace future digital technologies.

·         Shaping the region’s approach to public and private sector reform.

·         Identifying and leading thinking on the future of ESIF and its replacement or what LCR needs to do to be at the forefront of changes in areas such as energy, environment, digital, innovation, active travel, health and inclusion. 

 

 

This post will primarily work within the team which will support the development, management, co-ordination and implementation of the European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF) programme and its successor funding.  The successful applicant will need to have a detailed knowledge of European funding programmes and experience of developing and implementing European funding projects and programmes based on evidence based policy.

 

As a Policy Assistant, you will provide project and technical support through the collection and analysis of data and evidence and use this to assess the costs and benefits of interventions. By providing project management for policy projects and initiatives you will support the effective monitoring and reporting of performance.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future direction of the City Region, responsible for working with partners to shape the policy agenda and influence local, regional and national decision-making.

 

Candidates will be expected to have strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate insights fluently to a range of audiences. In addition we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is prepared to work flexibly in a high-profile and demanding environment – often working to tight deadlines.  Good planning and communication skills are therefore required.
