The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

Bradford is currently on a journey of change as we deliver the ambitious outcomes of our Council Plan 2017-20.  To support us, we are looking for three highly motivated and self starting Finance Business Advisors who will play an important role in ensuring we remain a well-run Council, using all our resources wisely to deliver its priorities.

Our Business Advisor cohort, based on the business partnering model, assist Finance in exercising its control function whilst acting as trusted advisor to the functions they support.

Successful candidates will be qualified accountants with a strong track record of success in managing relationships, demonstrating resilience and providing excellent financial advice.  Local Government experience, whilst preferential, is not essential for all of the roles.

The three roles we are seeking to recruit to cover:

Post Ref:  117292: Health and Wellbeing:  working with our largest Department, which is currently undertaking a £32m demand management change project, the successful candidate will provide robust challenge and support as the programme develops and strengthen our approach to financial reporting across the function.

Post Ref:  117030: Projects and Special Initiatives:  requiring strong creative, commercial and negotiation skills, this post performs a key troubleshooting role in supporting major council projects and contracts including dispute resolution.

Post Ref:  117552:  Capital, Treasury and Taxation:  requiring excellent technical skills, and a demonstrable commitment to collaboration, the postholder will bolster our annual accounts process, develop our approach to managing and reporting our corporate capital programme and provide advice for major capital projects.
