APPRENTICE YOUTH WORKER

Grade JNC Pay Point 2 – Pay Point 5 (£15,807 - £17, 491 pa)

 

NJC Apprenticeship Rate % of Grade Band:

Age 16/17 - Year 1: £8,694 Year 2 - £13,436 pa

Age 18+ -    Year 1: £12,646 -  Year 2  - £15, 017 pa

 

10 x 37 hours per week

Based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, 4 Manchester Road, Bradford BD5 0QL

 

The apprenticeship duration will be for 2 years.

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The Youth Service is looking to recruit 10 Apprentice Youth Workers who are enthusiastic, organised and passionate about making a difference and changing young people’s lives.

 

The main purpose of the role is to initiate and develop relationships with 11 – 19 to year olds and up to 25 year olds for young people with disabilities.  Working directly with young people to enable them to broaden their horizons and involvement in positive activities.  By designing and developing youth work responses underpinned by the 4 cornerstones of youth work, equality, participation, education and empowerment and delivery of the Youth Offer. 

 

The apprenticeship provides on the job experience, alongside a programme of training relating to the role and to achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme. 

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Level 3 Youth Work Practice. 

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship it is desirable that you have a Grade 4 or C in GCSE Maths, English and ICT or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate good literacy, numeracy and ICT through an assessment that will take place before the interview stage.  Exemption to the English and Maths minimum requirements for people with Special Educational Needs, Learning Difficulties or Disabilities and adjusting the minimum requirements to the entry level will be considered on an individual case by case basis.

 

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

 

Successful applicants at the selection stage will be assessed first on numeracy and literacy.  Only successful applicants from the assessment centre process will be invited to interview.
