The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
The Bereavement Service provides a high quality and sensitive service to a wide range of faiths and cultures across the District in the administration and delivery of over 4000 funerals per year. The service requires a cemetery operative to join a small team carrying out burials initially within the Bradford constituencies. The work will mainly involve the excavation of grave plots, attendance at funerals and other activities connected with the maintenance of cemeteries and closed church yards. To be a successful candidate you must have:-
- A current driving licence including at least subcategory C1+E to allow towing
OR
- A current CITB or equivalent standard qualification for use of a mini excavator
AND
- Two years outdoor manual experience in general construction, building or hard landscaping work
- Working knowledge of Risk Assessment and Safe Working Guide processes
- The ability to conduct yourself appropriately and deal with members of the public often in sensitive situations
- The ability to sustain periods of heavy physical effort, sometimes during inclement weather
Previous experience of grave digging, brickwork, shoring or use of horticultural equipment would be an advantage.
You will be asked to provide a copy of your driving licence or operating licence, showing the required categories, at the interview stage.
A health screening and/or demonstration of the ability to sustain heavy physical effort may be part of the recruitment process.
