The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

You will assist Lawyers, Senior Lawyers and Legal Officers, primarily in the field of Children’s Social Care, in a busy legal team. Liaising with the Family Court, client department, fee earners and other parties regarding the filing and listing of care proceedings and other children applications is central to the post. The work is sensitive, confidential and often complex and emotionally demanding in nature. You should be able to interpret and communicate information effectively, use a range of complex IT packages and work to tight deadlines.

You should have experience in a legal environment, undertaking routine legal work including drafting documents, dealing with clients and correspondence and assisting fee earners. You should hold an NVQ Level 2, GNVQ Intermediate, RSA Diploma, City and Guilds Craft or Part 2 BTEC general of first Diploma or GSCE/O levels Grades A-C.
