Specialist Support Worker with Deaf Children 

Permanent

Band 5/6: £23,114 - £25,979 pa (Actual pro rata: £10,745 - £12,078)

1 x 20 hours per week (Term time + one week (39 weeks)

Based at Girlington Primary School

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and creative Specialist Support Worker (SSW) to join our team of professionals to work with deaf children across the Deaf and MSI Children Service, in the Local Authority Led Resourced Provisions (LARP). This posts will initially be based at Girlington Primary School.

 

The Deaf and MSI Children Service is a large, enthusiastic and dynamic team of specialists providing teaching and support for Deaf and MSI children and young people.  We work with three schools that host a Local Authority Led Resourced Provision and peripatetically across the Bradford local authority.

Ideally you will have experience of working in an education setting with deaf children and young people. You must have the ability to demonstrate skills in British Sign Language at a minimum of Level 2 and have a willingness to develop your BSL further. There will be opportunity within the service to do this.

Responsibilities of the post include ensuring that the safety and welfare of children and young people is paramount by implementing the relevant safeguarding practice and policies and liaising with other council colleagues including the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) where appropriate.
