The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
Do you have the skills to motivate citizens within their localities to make positive contributions through developing engagement and involvement opportunities to encourage active and responsible citizenship and strengthen community relations? Can you bring together residents, businesses and public sector and other organisations, working alongside councillors, to problem solve to develop innovative projects to tackle entrenched issues in neighbourhoods and across constituencies, to produce positive outcomes that improve residents’ quality of life?
You will be responsible for developing and implementing Ward Plans, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, co-ordinating the work of Council and partner services within localities at a ward- and neighbourhood-level. The successful candidate will support the deployment of staff and other resources, providing specialist support and guidance to front line workers as required.
We are looking to recruit someone who is able to:
· Motivate people to take action
· Understand community engagement principles
· Lead projects that result in positive outcomes
· Lead effective multi-agency and partnership working that creates extra value in service delivery
· to co-ordinate and facilitate public engagement and consultation in communities.
· to provide support and guidance to Elected Members in their community leadership role.
You will also be required to undertake and present formal management investigations and will therefore need knowledge of performance, sickness and disciplinary processes within a complex organisation.
You should have experience of community engagement, including with groups that are often overlooked, of managing complex projects and of management processes with a degree level or equivalent qualification and 5 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in the absence of qualification requirement.
