The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.
To undertake an Apprenticeship Scheme within the Department of Children’s Services for which the main purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of a reception service across several sites dealing with generic and service specific duties across the South Bradford children’s centres cluster. Together with its partners, the children’s centre cluster delivers an extensive programme of services to families and children aged 0-5.
To act in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Information security and governance principles and maintain confidentiality at all times.
We are looking for an individual who is committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Business Administration. To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C or Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English and not already qualified at Level 2 in the subject area. (An assessment will take place before the interview stage).
The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.
Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship.
The following special knowledge apply to this post, please evidence this by giving examples on your application form:-
- The applicant is required to provide evidence of having previously spoken fluently in English in order to meet the lower threshold level outlined above.
- Must be accurate and able to demonstrate good numeracy and literacy
- Able to use a range of IT packages, ie Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Able to learn data protection and information security protocols
- Has successfully passed on information accurately both face to face and by telephone
- Has an awareness of the diverse needs of our communities
- Has respected confidential information and not disclosed it inappropriately to others
- Has previously followed instructions in a careful and structured way to carry out a task
