The Public and Forensic Science Centre is a facility operated by Bradford Council on behalf of HM Coroner (for the local authority areas of Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale). It provides state of the art mortuary and forensic post mortem facilities.

 

The Council’s Imaging Autopsy Centre is able to undertake non-invasive scans to seek to determine cause of death. It is the first such local authority facility in the country and we are proud of pioneering this innovation. The Centre works in close partnership with the local community to ensure that the needs of all communities are met.

 

Mortuary Manager

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Manager who will ensure that a comprehensive high quality public and forensic mortuary service is provided. The postholder, with the assistance of the Deputy Manager, will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day management and development of the facility. The postholder will hold the position of Designated Individual and ensure compliance with the HTA licence.

 

Applicants should possess a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology), and have a proven track record at a managerial or deputy level of managing a public/hospital mortuary. This should include undertaking post mortems including forensic/high risk post mortems or at least 5 year’s post diploma experience working at a senior level in a mortuary environment where post mortems including forensic /high risk post mortems are carried out which must include management experience of a team/part of a team.

 

Deputy Mortuary Manager

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly competent anatomical pathology technician to assist the manager in providing a comprehensive high quality public and forensic mortuary service. You will be proficient in the techniques and procedures involved in coronial and forensic post mortems and will have experience of working at a senior level in order to act as HTA Person Designate and contribute to the management, planning and quality management activity of the facility.

 

Applicants should possess a Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology and at least5 years’ recent post diploma experience at Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician level or above in a hospital or public mortuary undertaking post mortems including forensic /high risk post mortems which must include experience of management and/ or supervision of staff.
