The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The role of Panel Support Officer is a new and exciting role created within Children’s Services; the purpose of the role is to provide a professional support service to the Head’s of Service and to facilitate and provide a minute taking service to a number of Panel Meetings across Children’s Services.
Responsibilities include:-
- Administrative support to the Heads of Service
- Diary management
- Correspondence management (including e-mails)
- Agenda setting and minute taking
- Letter/document/report producing
- Telephone answering/gatekeeping
- Support in dealing with complaints and enquires as required
- Support as required during internal and external inspections
- To set and administer Panel meetings and other complex meetings, taking and producing clear, relevant and accurate records and circulating to the relevant parties electronically within present timescales and deadlines.
- Liaise with professional colleagues and members of multi-agency groups to obtain detailed and accurate information, essential to meetings and decision making process.
- To maintain up to date knowledge of and apply complex internal processes and procedures in relation to the administration of panels.
- Recording and maintaining accurate up to date information on the internal information system and interrogate information to provide performance information and to assist in key decision making
