Photo Archive Assistant

Band 6 £18,672 - 20,541 pa  (Pro rata for Part Time Posts)

1 x 15 hours per week

Temporary for 23 months

Based at Bradford Industrial Museum, Moorside Road, Bradford.

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

An exciting opportunity to join the curatorial team at Bradford Museums and Galleries as Photo Archive Assistant. The post involves the care, documentation, display, interpretation and research of Museum photographic collections and Archives to ensure their accessibility and relevance to the Bradford and district community. This will involve the digitisation and cataloguing to museum standard the prints, negatives and glass plates, a good knowledge of copyright and use of images, conducting research, answering enquiries from a variety of sources and some responsibility for income generation from use of the archive.

The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of i-base software and DSLR camera equipment, a good knowledge of current copyright legislation as well as museum and archive practices in relation to the storage and handling of images.

Good communication skills together with good numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
