Based at Homes providing short breaks to children with physical and learning disabilities based in Bradford and Keighley

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPARE TIME?

This is an exciting opportunity for  experienced and qualified child care workers to support established teams as and when required at Clockhouse , Wedgewood, Valleyview and BEST  in our learning disabilities short break specialist provisions. It can be as little as one shift per month up to three shifts per week.

 

Wedgewood, Valleyview, BEST  and Clockhouse offer residential short break services across the whole of the district. These include overnight stays, holiday day care and after school visits. Offering activities and stimulation within the community and the homes your role would support and enhance the young people’s time away from their family home. This is a service for the young people giving them quality time away from their carers to help support their socialisation and community interaction.

 

Some young people, due the their disabilities, may present behaviours  that challenge and/ or have complex health needs requiring specialist additional training and support.

 

The homes care for children and young people with complex health and learning disabilities. This includes :   
 

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Profound multiple learning disabilities
  • Profound multiple physical disabilities

 

To support the established teams successful candidates;

  • Must be over 18 years old
  • Must have NVQ level 3 in care of children and young people or equivalent
  • Work shifts including weekend and bank holidays. Working unsociable hours regularly.
  • Be willing and able to undertake training and development as part of the role.
  • Be willing to support personal care needs of young people .
  • Be willing to support young people in times of stress or anxiety.
  • Have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have the ability to nurture and support the children and young people ensuring the environment is clean and their needs are fully met.
  • Have the willingness to work with young people that communicate and interact with the world through their own interpretation and don’t follow social conventions
  • Under take mandatory and specialist training required for the role.
  • Open to challenge themselves and learn about intensive interaction techniques and approaches. Be someone that can stay stimulated in repetitive situations.
