PREVENT ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

Band PO2/3: £30,785 - £36,379 pa

1 x 37 hours per week

Temporary for two years

Based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, BRADFORD

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

As a Prevent Engagement Officer you will be working within Bradford’s Prevent and Hate Crime Team and will ensure that the District’s Prevent Strategy is implemented with key community partners.

 

This role will co-ordinate activities and projects to tackle extremism within and between Bradford’s communities and minimise negative influences from outside the District.

 

You will support staff from partners in terms of training provision, guidance and projects to support the objectives of the Prevent Strategy.

 

You will be build trust and confidence in Prevent approaches and strengthen community engagement across the District.

 

You will be responsible for preparing, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects funded by the Home Office. You will ensure compliance with statutory and internal financial regulations is adhered to.

The person we are seeking will:

  • Be passionate about working with a diverse mix of communities
  • Have at least 2 years of working in a community development role
  • Have a good working knowledge of Prevent and safeguarding
  • Ability to support, develop and inspire other
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on the information available, ensuring effective relationships with other professionals 
  • Have experience of delivering community based projects
