We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly driven team member who can help the Council fulfil its statutory role as Lead Local Flood Authority. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Land Drainage and Flood Risk Management Team in Bradford. The team leads the Council's role as Lead Local Flood Authority, working with risk management partners to manage flood risk across the District.

 

Bradford is an extraordinary, energetic and enterprising place. It is the UK’s youngest city, almost a quarter of the district’s 528,000 population is under 16 and this is one of the many reasons why Bradford has been acknowledged as a key growth location within the Leeds City Region. 

 

We have ambitious plans to promote and develop our £40 million capital flood alleviation programme in conjunction with other stakeholders. This includes the integration of new flooding schemes within significant growth areas whilst seeking continued business investment and developer interest.

 

The varied workload for this post involves flood investigations, advising on flood risk and drainage matters to the Planning Authority, drainage asset maintenance and management, reservoir management and maintenance, confined space surveying, drainage design and inspection, civil engineering contract management and preparation, land drainage consenting and the management of a £40 million capital flood alleviation programme.

 

You will be qualified to degree level in flood risk engineering, civil engineering or appropriate subject with post qualification experience of working in the flood risk management field. You will be an excellent negotiator and someone who finds solution finding second nature.

 

You will be the project leader facilitating a “Development Team” approach ensuring maximum contribution to the regeneration of Bradford and the achievement of a sustainable and prosperous District.
