Initially based at St James’s Wholesale Market, Essex Street, Bradford but expected to work at other market venues across the Bradford district.

           

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Council’s Markets provision comprises the management and operation of indoor markets in Bradford, at the Oastler Shopping Centre and Kirkgate Market, and Keighley; a Horticultural Wholesale Market, outdoor markets at Shipley and Bingley and several themed market events across the District.

 

The Markets Service supports over 300 small businesses and over 800 full and part time jobs, and provides around 800 trading units. The 3 indoor market venues attract approximately 6 million shoppers in 2018.

 

The postholder will be responsible for all operational estate management matters including tenant and trader liaison, health and safety, planned preventative building maintenance, reactive maintenance and long term maintenance of all facilities, security, cleaning, customer services and enforcement of occupational leases, trading agreements, licences and byelaws.

 

We are looking for a person that has experience in operational or event management working in a retail, leisure or commercial environment and has experience of managing budgets. The ever changing retail picture means the postholder will have experience of successfully managing change, improving business or service efficiencies for the delivery of improved customer service.
