Bradford Council Department of Health & Well Being is undergoing an exciting period of transformation and change as we implement our vision for wellbeing in Bradford and District – Home First.  We have a strong vision for social work which recognises that the service is at the heart of our Home First vision.  Our Safeguarding Adults Board has committed to Making Safeguarding Personal in Bradford and District.  Our Transforming Lives partnership vision is to develop an approach which spans the life course, planning for fulfilling and productive lives.

To further strengthen our social work service, we are recruiting social workers across the following teams:

  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Community Learning Disabilities
  • Transitions (Preparation for Adulthood)

With a strong and unshakable belief that social work is human rights, you will understand that whilst the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are about protecting Article 5 ECHR rights, it is Article 8, the right to a private and family life, which defines good social work practice.  You will want to practice in a setting where your colleagues believe that people are happiest and at their most healthy and safe when they are at home, surrounded by people they love and who love them. You may be a qualified, HCPC registered Social Worker looking for a creative change or a registered Newly Qualified Social Worker seeking your first role in professional practice.

Our Community Learning Disabilities and Transitions (Preparation for Adulthood) Teams provide a social work response for learning disabled people who require creative and imaginative solutions to maintain their independence. Drawing on solutions which are based in the heart of communities and centred on providing support which is strength based in its approach you shall be a relational practitioner who achieves positive outcomes which enable people to remain at home with support from their natural networks of support.

Our Safeguarding Adults Team undertakes whole service investigations and coordinates the response where a Section 42 enquiry is required to uphold people’s rights.  The team is developing a model of practice underpinned by the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal and framed by the 5 statutory principles of the Mental Capacity Act.  Working in close partnership with commissioners and contract compliance the team supports providers to raise standards of quality and lessen restrictions to improve how people experience care and support.

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be undertaken for this post.
