ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS

Band 7/8:  £21,166 to £26,317 per annum

1 x 37 hours per week

1 x 18.5 hours per week

 

Based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, Bradford, but required to work anywhere within the Bradford District and likely to be based at Lawcroft House/Harris Street.

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

We are looking for staff to join our busy team to deal with people who don’t dispose of their waste properly. We currently have 1 full-time position and 1 part-time position. 

 

You will investigate allegations of waste crime and make decisions about the best course of action. You will take informal and formal actions against the perpetrators of environmental crimes such as fly tipping, illegal and unauthorised waste treatment, storage and disposal.  You will also ensure that businesses and householders dispose of their waste properly, and will deal with nuisance arising from accumulations. You will be expected to participate in educational campaigns to raise awareness and enforce the law, often with partners such as the Police and Environment Agency.

 

Suitable applicants will need to have either a minimum of 3 years’ experience of regulatory/enforcement/legal systems or some of the experience and educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an area related to at least one of the following: waste regulation, environmental health, environmental enforcement or criminal investigation.
