The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

Kings Hall – Winter Garden (a Bradford Theatres venue)  wishes to increase its pool of casual duty staff  to work along side other members of duty staff based at Kings Hall and Winter Garden in Ilkley. As well as offering support across three other Bradford Theatre venues – Alhambra Theatre, Alhambra Studio and St George’s Concert Hall if and when required, however 90% of the work is at Kings Hall Winter Garden. You will need a minimum of 12 month’s experience working as a caretaker / cleaner or in a similar position.

Hours are casual and are determined by the needs of the business to supplement the existing staff based at the site. This post has a strong aspect of heavy lifting and moving  duties to where candidates are required to undertake many moving and lifting tasks.  There will also be the opportunity for suitable candidates to be trained to assist in other areas of the Kings Hall Winter Garden supplementing other more senior staff when and where the business requires, ie duty manager (for this work a higher rate of pay is given £10.44).

You will need to be enthusiastic, be able to work performing the tasks and responsibilities allotted  to the highest standard, dealing with security of the venue, security of the visiting public, safety and wellbeing of staff and public, perform basic maintenance  and keeping the venue clean and welcoming. The successful candidate will be expected offer support to visiting companies and all customers who use the Kings Hall – Winter Garden. 

Applicants must have the ability to work both using their own initiative and as part of a team, and display a positive willingness to learn and to update personal training for the benefit of the hall and oneself.

A basic working knowledge of general theatre practice (or a multi-functional entertainment venue), Manual Handling and relevant Health & Safety polices and procedures would be desirable, but not essential as we will provide training and guidance.
