Nights: Band 7 + 1 scp 21 - 26 Bar at scp 25:     £20,541 - £23,866 (Pro-rata for part-time posts)

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

 

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

 

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team at Valley View House in our  learning disabilities specialist provision. The  home cares for children and young people with complex health and learning needs such as autism condition and challenging behaviours.

 

We offer 7 residential long term placements and 3 shared care placements and 1 respite placement.

The BEST project within  Valley View have 4 beds for supporting young people with behavioural assessments.

 

The work in the children’s homes will be supported by specialist roles wrapping around the whole service. These include:

 

  • Dedicated CAMHS support
  • Psychologist linked to the home
  • Police Officer
  • Specialist schools
  • Specialist Nursing Team

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Be expected to work in Valley View House providing care and support to children and young people living in long term residential care in addition supporting young people and families with shared care and respite provision.
  • Need to be resourceful, committed and able to adapt their approach depending on the situation and environment.
  • Be able to work in accordance with our model of care. 
  • Have Level 3 Diploma or equivalent (see job profile).
  • Have 2 years experience of working with Looked After Children and young people, preferably including some residential experience and within learning disabilities.
  • Have the ability to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the service, and will also have the flexibility to work across the different homes when needed.
  • Have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have the ability to use electronic systems.
  • Have the ability to nurture and support the children and young people ensuring the environment is clean and their needs are fully met.

 

An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure & Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.

 

This post will be recruited via the Warner process, which means there will be a safeguarding interview as well as a formal interview and extensive checks.
