An exciting opportunity exists for an Experienced Social Worker on the “Welcome Project”, a new project led by Migration Yorkshire in partnership with local authorities in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region developing provision for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).

The role will involve seeking out potential foster carers and supported lodgings placements throughout West Yorkshire (Bradford, Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield). The post holder will engage closely with community organisations, faith organisations (Mosques, faith groups, BAME community groups, Asylum support organisations etc.) with the aim of generating extra prospective family placements for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children in need of care and protection.

This post is hosted by Bradford Through Care Team but the post holder will work from a range of locations across the 5 local authorities and with Migration Yorkshire who are based in Leeds.

This role will involve travel and flexible working (home and remote locations).

The post holder will have an understanding of fostering, and knowledge of the specific care planning needs for UASC, and have the ability to advise others on these issues. They will need to demonstrate a commitment to this project and collaborative regional working.

We will be willing to consider this as a secondment opportunity (subject to the agreement of your current employer).
