Apprentice IT Professional – Development

TEMPORARY – 24 months

Age 18 and above - Year 1 - £ 27,284 pa - Year 2 - £ 28,183

 

37 hours per week –

Based at Aldermanbury House

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Department of Chief Executives Office would like to recruit an Apprentice who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible.

 

The main duties of the role will be to design, optimise and maintain West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) websites making information as accessible and appealing as possible..

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking a Higher Level (4) Apprenticeship in Software Development.

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C and being able to demonstrate Level 1 in Maths and English (An assessment will take place before the interview stage) and a Level 3 qualification in Software Development or a relevant Level 3 qualification or demonstrable experience at that level.

 

You must also have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years to qualify for Apprenticeship Funding.

Bradford Council will provide you with the sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship.

The following special knowledge apply to this post:

 

  • Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate complex information.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the system development process including requirements analysis, design of applications, development, testing, commissioning and handover to on-going support.
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts like tables, indexes, constraints, transactions, and object-relational mapping.
  • The principles and application of a range of languages and tools, in particular, .NET (C#), HTML, JavaScript frameworks
  • SQL and Oracle PL SQL
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the principles of Object Orientated development, design patterns and n-tier applications
  • Uses a range of specialist ICT systems across own work area and or across other areas of work.
