Age 16/17 -  Year 1 - £   8,258 pa - Year 2 - £ 12,848 pa

Age 18 +  -   Year 1 - £ 12,011 pa - Year 2 - £ 14,359 pa

 

37 hours per week

Based at Baildon Recreation Centre, Shipley

 

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

Bradford Council is looking to recruit an Apprentice Countryside Project Worker to work in the Countryside and Rights of Way Service, carrying out practical countryside management and maintenance tasks on an arrange of sites and public rights of way across the Bradford District.  The work is essentially outdoor, site based with a small amount of office administration/record keeping.

 

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

 

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Work-Based Environmental Conservation with Shipley College which will include a combination of site based assessment and college based learning.

 

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C or a minimum of Entry Level 3 or above in Maths and English.  (An assessment will take place before the interview stage)

Bradford Council will provide you with sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship. 

The following special knowledge apply to this post:-    
  

  • Is able to effectively use key IT packages which are necessary for the post i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.          
  • Awareness of data protection and data security protocols
  • Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficiently and effectively.          
  • Able to deal with internal and external customers and pass on information accurately both face to face, over the telephone and by email.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of practical conservation work, local wildlife regulations and related environmental issues.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of rights of way, conservation and legislation relating to status of routes, standards and codes of practice.
  • Must be accurate, and able to demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills.
