The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert, outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

A unique opportunity exists for an Environmental Health Officer seeking a new challenge. Bradford is a diverse city and you can expect a busy and varied work load; and many challenges.

The current vacancies are within the Food Safety Team but the post of Environmental Health Officer is a generic post and you may be required to undertake other Environmental Health Officer duties within one of the other Environmental Health Teams.

Within the Food Safety Team you will carry out proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections and interventions, investigate food complaints and give advice on all food related issues. You will be required to investigate cases of infectious diseases and food borne disease. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of public health initiatives and training.

You will be enthusiastic, committed, self-motivated and have a ‘can-do’ attitude, including excellent communication skills.

For the established post you must hold a recognised degree in Environmental Health or a recognised diploma in Environmental Health and a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board.

To be eligible for the trainee post you must have a recognised degree in Environmental Health or nearing the completion of the degree. We can offer the right person an opportunity to complete the structured practical training in order to obtain registration with the Environmental Health Officers registration board or Chartered membership of the CIEH. If registration is completed successfully you will then be eligible to apply for progression to Environmental Health Officer.

The Council offers a range of benefits including flexible working and training and development.
