Apprentice Web Developer

TEMPORARY – 18 months

Band P01:

Age 18 and above - Year 1 - £ 23,927 pa - Year 2 - £ 24,604 (pro rata)

37  hours per week  

Based at Aldermanbury House

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The Department of Chief Executives Office would like to recruit an Apprentice who is enthusiastic, competent and flexible.

The main duties of the role will be to design, optimise and maintain West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) websites making information as accessible and appealing as possible.

The apprentice will follow a programme of training relating to the role and achieve the appropriate skills, competencies and qualifications of the role by the end of the training programme.

We are looking for individuals who are committed to undertaking a Higher Level (4) Apprenticeship in Software, Web and Telecoms.

To qualify for the apprenticeship you must have GCSE Maths and English at Grades A-C and being able to demonstrate Level 1 in Maths and English (An assessment will take place before the interview stage) and a Level 3 qualification in IT/Web/Graphic Design or a relevant Level 3 qualification or demonstrable experience at that level.

You must also have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years to qualify for Apprenticeship Funding. 

Bradford Council will provide you with the sufficient time, the working environment, training and the range of job activities within where it is possible for you to complete your full apprenticeship. 

The following special knowledge apply to this post:

• Uses a range of specialist ICT systems across own work area and or across other areas of work.      
• Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate complex information.
• A thorough understanding of implementing responsive & adaptive websites for all devices.
• Knowledge of any of the following web technologies.

• HTML, XML, XHTML

• Java, JavaScript, ActionScript

• SQL and MySQL databases

• ASP, PHP, CSS, SSL security technologies    

      

• Knowledge of the following:

• Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver

• Fireworks, Coldfusion

• HotMetal Pro, Adobe GoLive

• Axure RP, Visual Interdev 

• Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate complex information.
• Experience of creating and update a well-coded and efficient website. 

As this is a Higher Apprenticeship opportunity successful applicants at the selection stage will be assessed first on numeracy/literacy skills.  Only successful applicants from the assessment centre process will be

interviewed.
