An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional person who wants to play a leading role in reshaping our local economy and forging better futures for millions of people.

That’s precisely what is on offer at West Yorkshire Combined Authority where a £1bn devolution deal has put the Leeds City Region at the forefront of the Government’s Northern Powerhouse delivery agenda.

The Combined Authority brings together five districts plus York, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro. Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the West Yorkshire Combined Authority as a Transport Planner.

We are shaping transport in the region and we are looking for a Transport Planner who has transport planning experience and project support experience to help deliver our exciting plans.

Based in Kirklees Council, with occasional travel to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s offices in Leeds, you will be responsible for providing technical planning advice to major infrastructure transport schemes to improve transport in Kirklees.

The role will also include support for business case writing and appraisal of business cases for both transport and economic regeneration.

We are looking for a candidate with a transport planning background who is proactive and will be able to provide expert support to transport projects at Kirklees and across the region when required.
